Founded in 1981 by Dr. Ila Pathak (23 May 1933 – 9 January 2014) Ahmedabad Women’s Action Group (AWAG) aims to protest violence against women, raise the image of women in society and support their rights thereby providing them a life of dignity, welfare and economic betterment. The organization has been active since 1981 and has supported approximately 263,000 beneficiaries, provided counseling to over 23,300 individuals, and implemented 88 projects.
